Sharing the Gospel

One key aspect of the church's mission is to share with others the good news of Jesus Christ. Indeed, the word 'evangelism' comes from the Greek for good news, and passing on the message of what God has done in Christ for the whole world is part of the church's commission (Matt 28:18).

Although the gift of evangelism is given to some (Eph 4:11), sharing faith naturally and graciously is part of every Christian's discipleship. As the Message translation of 1 Peter 3:15-16 colloquially puts it, 'Be ready to speak up and tell anyone who asks why you're living the way you are, and always with the utmost courtesy.'
