How diverse is your Church?
The Methodist Church will take a snapshot of its richness anddiversity through the launch of a web-based survey nextmonth.
From September 1 Methodists across the country will be given thechance to feed back on equality and diversity in their church inorder to gain a better insight into the kinds of Christiancommunities Methodists belong to.
Margaret Sawyer, Equalities and Diversity Officer, said: "This is awhole new area of work that is really exciting. It is reallyimportant at this early stage to map out what the Methodist Churchlooks like.
"In the future there will be further consultations to gain moreinsight into equalities and diversity, but for now we are reallykeen to hear from as many people as possible so that we can findout what the Church looks like."
The consultation, which was requested by the Methodist Council inApril, will contribute to the Equality and Diversity report thatwill come before the Methodist Conference next year. The surveywill help to shape a Methodist Church equalities and diversitypolicy and theological statement on inclusivity.
The Church is particularly concerned with justice issues relatingto race, gender, disabilities, homophobia, ageism and class. If youwould like to take part, email Margaret Sawyer:SawyerM@methodistchurch.org.uk stating whether you would like ahard copy of the survey posted out to you or alternatively you cancomplete the form online here:
