Methodists share Gift of Prayer with global partners
Methodists will share their faith in prayer in the form of a new booklet that will launch at the Christian Resources Exhibition next week.
A Gift of Prayer is the latest in the popular booklet series. The new booklet features prayers in several languages which take the Lord's Prayer as their inspiration. Churches around the world were asked for their prayerful reflections on the Lord's Prayer.
A prayer from the Revd Sameer Khimla, translated from Hindi, asks for God to: "Empower us to be your prophetic voice amongst people's struggles for land and life." The Revd Martin Evan-Jones, translated from Welsh, prays: "Even though it is hard to see evidence of your reign in the world as it is, give me the courage and the faith to realise that a small act on my part can open the door to your kingdom."
Christine Elliott, Secretary for External Relationships, said: "A Gift Of Prayer is a helpful offering for us to engage in prayer with our partners all around the world. We trust that this booklet will enable us to connect with the wider Methodist family as we grow together in faith."
Visitors to the Christian Resources Exhibition at Sandown Park race course in Esher on 8 to 11 May will be able to pick up a copy free from the Methodist stand SV8. Churches are encouraged to give the booklets away and to use them for personal or small group reflection.
