Bill stepped down as the CFB's Chief Executive Officer lastDecember, before retiring in February 2017, having worked for theorganisation for over thirty two years.

The scholarship will be available to any person under 23 withinMethodism (this includes all young people attending a Methodistschool) who is, or will be, studying for their first economics,finance or business related degree.  The scholarship will pay£2,000 per annum for up to 3 years.

Applicants must complete an essay discussing the subject: "Investment outcomes balanced against ethical consequences -where should the line be drawn when investing the assets of theMethodist Church?"   The successful applicant will beannounced on 31 August 2017.   Full details of entryrequirements and conditions can be found here.

Announcing the scholarship, David Palmer, Chief ExecutiveOfficer, Central Finance Board said:

"We are delighted to create this scholarship in Bill's honour. He has worked tirelessly to promote a Christian approach toinvestment within the UK and overseas, bringing together faithgroups and corporate management to address critical ethicalinvestment issues".

Bill Seddon, commented: "I am humbled to have a scholarshipestablished in my name.    We are all familiar with thebiblical reference "as you sow, so shall you reap".  This is awonderful opportunity to sow the next generation of Christianthinkers and leaders in the world of ethical investment and I praythat a rich harvest will result."

The Central Finance Board of the Methodist Church, whichmanages c.£1.4bn, was established by an Act of Parliament in 1960and set up its own fund management department in 1972.
