Raid by Israeli forces on St Andrew's Anglican Church in Ramallah

The President of the Methodist Conference the Revd Graham Thompson has written to the Most Revd Hosam Naoum, Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, following the raid on St Andrew's Anglican Church in Ramallah.

Dear Archbishop Hosam,

On behalf of the Methodist Church in Britain I write to express our outrage over the unwarranted raid on 18th August 2022 by Israeli forces at St Andrew’s Anglican Church in Ramallah.

We stand in solidarity with you and all who strive for peace in the area.

There is no justification for intimidation and destruction of places of worship; staff and volunteers must be free from intimidation as they go about their duties.

We call for a thorough investigation into the events of 18th August and that assurances are given that this will not happen again.

Please know that I will pray for you and all affected by these events and know also that a great many others across our country will be doing the same. We pray for strength and perseverance for all in the church community in Ramallah over the coming weeks as you set about repairs and recovery from this traumatic event.
