Ruby Beech Elected Vice President Designate of the Methodist Conference
Ms Ruby Beech has been elected Vice President Designate of theMethodist Conference. She will begin her year of office at the 2007Methodist Conference, which meets in Blackpool in July of nextyear.
Mansfield-born Ruby is Assistant Serjeant at Arms in the House ofCommons. Member of "Christians in Parliament". She is passionateabout living and sharing the Gospel of Jesus and about SocialJustice and celebrates the Methodist Church as an open andinclusive Church whose ministers and lay people have nurtured herfaith. Ruby is a member of World Methodist Council, on Finance andEvangelism committees. She is a church Council member and Youthworker in Ruislip Church and a Local Preacher. She wasCo-ordinating Secretary from 1998 - 2005. Ruby's Connexional workincludes Stationing, Resignations and reinstatements, andResourcing Mission committees.
Ruby started her career with British Home Stores, before moving tothe Peugeot Talbot Motor Company. She held roles in the public,private and voluntary sectors including being Industrial Relationsmanager of a foundry, Director of Personnel at both the YWCA andthe YMCA as well as Assistant Principal of a College in London.Ruby has an MBA from Aston University and is a Member of theChartered Institute of Personnel and Development
Ruby says "I feel honoured and somewhat over-awed to be invited toserve the Church in this way. It is fabulous for me to have theopportunity to work closely with Martyn Atkins in these key rolesfor the Church as we continue to try to discern Our Calling in the21st century".
