A message from Dr Olubunmi Olayisade, AfricaPartnership Coordinator for the Connexional Team

It was with great shock and sympathy that we watched thedestruction of homes, properties and lives of the flood victims onthe news yesterday. We heard the sad news that over 300 deaths werereported and over 2000 people were rendered homeless on the firstday. It is certain that the death toll will rise.

We therefore join our brothers and sisters in Sierra Leone inmourning the deaths of community members and friends in Freetown. We pray for prompt response in getting humanitarian support to theflood victims to avert further deaths and hardship. May Jesus betheir rock of refuge and a very present help in times of need? MayHe uphold them in His loving arms and surround them with kindnessand mercy? May they be assured of His steadfast love and presenceas they wade through this ordeal as a nation? In Jesus name wepray.

Psalm 71

I cried out to God with my voice, ToGod with my voice
And He gave ear to me.
In the day of my trouble I sought theLord
My hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing
My soul refused to be comforted.
I remembered God, and was troubled; Icomplained, and my spirit was overwhelmed

We shall continue to uphold you

8Has His mercy ceasedforever? Has His promise failed forevermore?
Has God forgotten to be gracious?
Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? Selah

10  And I said,"This is my anguish; but I will remember the years of the righthand of the Most High."
11  I will remember the works of the Lord
Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
