All things bright and beautiful is the mostpopular hymn picked by couples marrying in a Methodist church.Below is the full list of favourite hymns. The list is compiledfrom a survey of Methodist ministers, the findingsof which are included in a report 'Marriage in the MethodistChurch', to be considered by the Methodist Conference in July2002.

When picking processional music and music to be played duringthe signing of the register, traditional music is still preferredby most couples. Wagner's Bridal March andMendelssohn's Wedding Marchare the most popularpieces.

Other pieces mentioned in the survey include JeremiahClarke'sTrumpet Voluntary, Widor's Toccata,the theme from the filmTitanic, Purcell's TrumpetTune, Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor,Pachelbel's Canon and the Regimentalmarch of the Wessex Regiment. Other composers mentioned areScott Joplin, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Gustav Holst.

Several ministers say there has been an increase in the use ofpre-recorded music. Some couples like to hear a CD of theirfavourite music as the register is signed or as they process in orout of church. Two songs particularly mentioned were Lovechanges everything and Up where webelong.
