World Action digs out red noses for new link up
World Action has been working with leading TV charity ComicRelief to prepare a resource pack to help youth groups prepare forthe big day in March.
Along with thousands of young people all over the UK, TVpresenters Ant and Dec will be getting up to all manner of palaversin support of Comic Relief's massive day of fun and fundraising.Red Nose Day 2001 is on 16 March.
Participants in Comic Relief 2001 are being encouraged to 'SayPants to Poverty' on Red Nose Day. And to help them, Comic Relief -aided by organisations including the Methodist Church's own WorldAction team - has produced a pack full of educational material andfun fundraising ideas.
Comic Relief exists to tackle poverty and promote social justicein the UK and Africa. Since its launch in 1985, Comic Relief hasraised over £174 million to help some of the poorest and mostvulnerable people in the UK and Africa to help themselves.
The World Action team of the Methodist Church works with youthgroups and other young people to encourage them to become aware ofand campaign on international issues. In recent years the team hasorganised successful campaigns on world debt and the politicalclimate in Burma.
