Bring and Buy for Ukraine

An appeal for donations by a Methodist Church to raise money for the people of Ukraine has exceeded expectations. Huncote Methodist Church launched an appeal for “a bring and buy sale” to raise money for the joint Methodist Church, All We Can appeal.

Amanda Sadler was one of those who organised the event.

We launched an appeal for ‘a bring and buy sale’ in the village to raise funds for Ukraine. Volunteers were ready to receive the donations that quickly spilled over to be far more than anticipated. The hall and church of our little chapel were full.

We held the sale held on the 13 March and there were no prices on anything, with people invited to pay a donation by cash or card as they left.

We found that the event not only benefitted Ukraine... we had families who were stocking up on uniform, clothes, books and toys and gave people a chance to be together. Teenagers came along and had a great time trying new styles of clothes and donating their own. People paused for a chat over a cuppa and slice of cake.

The sale was meant to be just one day and raised about £2000 but it was so successful and we had so much to sell that we opened again the following day and made over £300 more.
