Lea Brook Methodist Church is in the Black Country Circuit in the West Midlands in the Wolverhampton & Shrewsbury Methodist District.
The church's team is passionate about reaching out to the community and involving as many church members as possible in that. They are registered with A Rocha UK’s Eco Church programme and are working towards their bronze award.
To integrate these two aspects of their work, they recently established their eco garden. Due to limited space, the only available area on the church grounds is a small section to the side of the church. Additionally, they face financial constraints, which is a common challenge for many churches in our Circuit.
The church collaborated with a local gardening company to provide materials for their eco garden free of charge. The garden includes raised beds and a simple greenhouse. Church members were involved in choosing what to grow in the garden and have contributed their expertise. They have also involved the Rainbows, Brownies, and Guides to help plant and maintain the garden as part of their weekly activities and program, which helps them earn interest badges.
