Update on the All We Can Ukraine appeal
In late February 2022, All We Can and the Methodist Church in Britain launched the Ukraine Emergency Appeal, to respond to the urgent need of Ukrainians following Russia’s invasion. A year on, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of people all over the UK.
We have been using these donations to fund the work of several humanitarian partners working across Ukraine, Poland, and other neighbouring countries.
One of our humanitarian partners has sought to deliver an emergency response to Ukraine conflict-affected civilians in Poland. This is being delivered through relief items (shelter and winterisation) as well as recovery and mitigation items (education, water, sanitation, and hygiene, and mental health and psychological support services).
This work has reached nearly three-thousand individuals. One of these individuals is Maryna, a twenty-eight-year-old who came to Poland in March of last year. Seeking to adapt to her new life in Poland, Maryna sought out opportunities to develop her language skills (learning English and Ukrainian) and ways to take care of her mental health. She was directed to our partner’s educational classes, where she can invest in her future and build herself a supportive community.
Another one of our humanitarian partners is working in Ukraine, with internally displaced people. Nadiia is a 39-year-old mother of two girls, who is currently living in Lanivtsi. In the small town in the West of Ukraine, with a population of less than 10,000, Nadiia feels that she and her daughters are safe.
She met with our partner who was providing hygiene kits to internally displaced people. These kits are vital because of the dignity they can bestow on people.
You and your church can find further ways to support Ukrainian refugees and respond to the ongoing crisis by exploring the toolkit put together by the Methodist Church in Britain. You can access the toolkit here: Toolkit
