Angleena Kiezer at the Methodist Liaison Office in Jerusalem gives us an insight into the issues affecting Israel and Palestine in the light of the Coronavirus outbreak and recent events.

“…we are on shut down since last Thursday and state of emergency since Friday for a month. We cannot move. We managed to get food supplies on Friday.  The Palestinian police are everywhere stopping people.  We took the volunteer on Friday planning to take her to the airport but they would not let me through or the other volunteer who we arranged to stay in Jerusalem for two days. They had both bought their flights to leave earlier with all that was happening. Chris was not allowed to leave and sent back to Bethlehem. She could only leave on Sunday with proof of flying to the UK.

My news as from today is that I need to get to Jerusalem tomorrow to pick up my visa papers, get 2 photos and an Israeli post office card to pay for the visa.  I will need to stay with Marc, the only one of us not in Westbank on Friday and Saturday presuming I get through tomorrow. I will need to go by Israeli taxi who will pick me up. It’s like a military operation trying to get out!

Then if I get out and get paperwork we will go to Ministry of Interior on Sunday 7.00 am. Others had great difficulty getting visa’s last Monday, and apparently not giving out new ones, they had two they were applying for.

So please pray that I get through and get my visa which runs out on the 4th April otherwise we have a problem”

Please keep Angleena, the work of the Methodist Liaison office, the volunteers and the people of Israel and Palestine in your prayers at this time.

###UPDATE###  17/03/2020 - Angleena has got her visa! This is an answer to prayer. It was not easy but we thank God and thank you for your prayers.
