An update from our mission partners in Hiaiti, the Harbottles, following the tragic death of Haiti-Observateur journalist Etzer Depestre

Dear Friends

Please keep the Depestre family in your prayers at this time.  We heard this evening that yesterday Etzer Depestre was attacked in his car and died from bullet wounds.  The family only heard this afternoon when they were asked to contact the police.

Etzer was a journalist with Haiti-Observateur and wrote articles about the Methodist  Church in Haiti events, including the 200yr celebrations, the concert at Port-au-Prince Methodist Church which raised money for the new organ and about the work of the Depestre foundation.

The family are naturally shocked by this tragedy and will need to gather from USA, Canada and Haiti.  Please remember them at this time of grief as they deal with the formal procedures and make preparations for the funeral.
