Build Back Better: A Just Recovery Post-COVID19 – Lessons from Australia

Dr Deidre Palmer, the President of the Uniting Church in Australia, joined us recently for the Methodist Church in Britain Conference. She took part as an active member in conference, although with an 8 hour time difference this took some commitment!
During Conference responses to COVID19 were considered. Dr Palmer has shared with us the vision produced by the Uniting Church in Australia, entitled “Build Back Better: A Just Recovery Post-COVID19.” This document shares a vision of a fairer, greener more just society as society recovers from COVID-19.
This vision of ‘Build Back Better’ is a companion to their “Vision for a Just Australia”, which outlines some of their key foundations in areas of justice, and their requests of the Government and Church in relation to these matters.
In sharing Dr Palmer comments, “I thought you may be interested to read these, and see how much we share in common in our commitment to living the way of God’s justice in our communities and world.”
