“On behalf of Bollobhpur Hospital I want to express our sincere appreciation for the generous donation you have recently made to our hospital”
Global Relationships have received this letter of thanks from Sr Gillian M. Rose, Director of Bollobhpur Hospital after the receipt of a World Mission Fund grant of £5,700 from the Methodist Church in Britain.
This grant was used to purchase of an ultrasound scanner (Mindray DC30) to replace a very old version which is no longer reliable.
Bollobhpur Hospital is a mission hospital of long-standing and also has a nursing school which gives poor young women the opportunity to qualify into the nursing profession and support their parents and siblings. In order to continue the nursing school there must be a viable associated hospital. While running a church hospital in the face of competition from government and private facilities is increasingly difficult, Bollobhpur continues to offer a valued and popular service to those who cannot afford private services. The hospital is an integrated element of the mission of the Church of Bangladesh.
The church hospital at Bollobhbpur conducts four clinics a week for pregnant women, one in the hospital and three in villages. On average 150 women are seen each week. Inevitably, some will require ultrasound scans as will other patients suffering from certain abdominal complications. There is now a permanent doctor at the hospital and the ultrasound machine will make a significant impact on the service she can offer patients.
