MCB World Mission Fund supports emergency response to attacks in northern Togo

For the last couple of years, the northern part of Togo has been suffering from intermittent attacks by Jihadists who have been entering the country from Togo’s northern neighbour, Burkina Faso. This has the resulted in the displacement of thousands of villagers who have fled the area in fear for their lives. The Methodist Church in Togo (Eglise Methodiste Protestante du Togo) is keen to support the displaced communities until they are able to return to their homes and villages and has set up a project to help feed and support villagers who have been affected by these attacks

This month, the World Mission Fund agreed a grant of £15,000 to provide emergency support to about 3000 people who have been displaced. This grant will provide basic food supplies for 3-4 months until they are able to return home. It will supply cooking utensils and basic living supplies, and building materials to repair damaged and destroyed homes once the displaced persons are able to return home. Additionally, the grant will purchase 300-400 mosquito nets and provide school fees for 500-700 children for 3 months. Provision will also be made for trauma support and counselling for children and youth affected by the violence.

By responding in this way, the Methodist Church in Togo are helping to reduce food insecurity and to promote stability in the area.

Please continue to pray for the work of the Methodist Church in Togo and for all that they are doing to help alleviate the suffering in the north of the country.

Funding like this is only possible through the World Mission Fund. Please continue to support the work of the World Mission Fund here.
