On a day when we think about love, we pray for Venezuela and the church in Colombia who are showing the love of Jesus in practical ways:

Heavenly Father, we pray for Venezuela and the three million migrants who have fled to neighbouring countries and beyond to escape hunger, ill-health and acute poverty. We pray Lord that you would intervene with your peace that surpasses all understanding, and that Venezuelan politicians and governments all around the world would work together solely for the good of the Venezuelan people and not for their own national gain or interests.  We pray for those countries that have received huge numbers of Venezuelan migrants such as Colombia and Brazil. We thank you Lord for the work the Colombian Methodist Church is doing in the city of Bucaramanga, where alongside other churches it is helping hundreds of migrants in relief work, in providing local information on government services and immigration advice. We thank you Lord for our mission partners in Colombia, Chris and Vera Lacey, who are supporting the church’s efforts in developing this work. Thank you Lord for those who give to the World Mission Fund that has enabled this work to happen. In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
