Prayers for Zimbabwe
In light of the sudden military takeover on 14 November 2017, we join with our brothers and sisters in Zimbabwe to pray for calm, peaceful deliberations, meaningful consultations and inclusive dialogues that will uphold human dignity and respect of everyone residing in Zimbabwe. We particularly pray for religious and community leaders to promote non-violent interactions throughout the transitory period until free and fair elections have been conducted.
Psalms 10: 1-6
Why do You stand afar off, O Lord?
Why do You hide in times of trouble?
2 The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor;
Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised.
3 For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire;
He blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord.
4 The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God;
Godis in none of his thoughts.
5 His ways are always prospering;
Your judgments are far above, out of his sight;
As for all his enemies, he sneers at them.
6 He has said in his heart, "I shall not be moved;
I shall never be in adversity."

Prayer
Dear Lord, we pray for all Zimbabweans especially those residing in Zimbabwe. May calm and peace reign in the land? We pray against violence, mistrust and intimidation as effective plans are being implemented to ensure accountable and good governance? We pray for national unity following free and fair elections in Zimbabwe. May the transitory period be shortened as democracy is reinstated? May Zimbabweans experience inclusive dialogue, freedom of speech and tolerance without inciting violence? May the love of Jesus spread across the land as people seek to serve and honour one another in Jesus name?
Amen
