Keep it multi-sensory
God made our bodies to understand and process the world through our senses.
We all have an ability to connect with God through the way that we see, hear, taste, smell, touch, balance, move, and feel inside our bodies. Sometimes we need support at a sensory level to be able to engage with anything around us.
This could mean
- giving lots of movement opportunities to someone whose body finds it hard to stay still.
- trying ear defenders for someone who doesn’t like loud noise
- giving a chewy sweet to someone who needs help listening to a talk
- giving a bear hug to someone who doesn’t like being touched by a bustling crowd.
