The Children, Youth and Family team is working in collaboration with Transforming Lives for Good (TLG), whose Box of Hope project provides an easy framework for any church looking to respond in a practical way to the issue of holiday hunger.

Chester Le Hope Methodist Church has been running the Box of Hope programme during lockdown, here's what Neil, the Childrens and Families Worker has to say about the initiative:
What’s your favourite thing about Box of Hope? Box of Hope allows us to meet both a practical need and gives us the chance to provide some hope and joy in lives which may need it. Boxes of Hope show families that there are a group of people out there, the church, who really care for them and want to journey with them as well as meet an immediate need.
What would you say to a church thinking about setting up Box of Hope? Pray about it, work as a team and be realistic about what you can offer in your particular context at first. Find out what the situation is around you and get to know schools and other organisations who will help you identify families who will benefit from the boxes.
What difference have you seen Box of Hope has made to local families? Many of the families we are delivering Boxes of Hope to have thanked us for the social contact and activities provided as much as the food. At a time when not much has been going on and families may feel 'trapped' at home, our deliveries have been a useful point in the week for families to come together to eat and to do something together.
