Who are Emerge?
Emerge Advocacy exists to be a #VoiceOfHope to young people aged 10-25 who are attending hospital because of self-harm, a suicide attempt or an emotional crisis, and provide in-person weekly follow up support for 3 months post discharge to be a bridge out of the crisis and into a more hopeful future. You can find out more about us by watching our video.
Our story:
The project started in Guildford, Surrey and has grown quickly in response to demand, with current projects running in Surrey, Kent and Berkshire. We are a Christian charity, motivated by our faith. We are passionate about supporting young people of all faiths and none and sharing God’s truth; that they are valued, their life matters, and there’s hope for their future.
Our research:
Our project is researching how we can reach even more young people in crisis; specifically whether there is an appetite nationally to engage with our project. Our hope is that we can share our model and empower churches to reach their local community by launching Emerge projects in their local hospitals. Our research at this stage aims to understand:
- A little about your church context and how the church operates
- Whether the work of Emerge is appealing to you
- The barriers a church like yours may face in opening a project
- If your church vision and values resonate with Emerge’s vision
- What information about Emerge a church like yours would find helpful in order to understand the project better
