Preaching in Lent

Workshop leader: Vicky Johnson
This workshop, will explore some of the key themes and messages of Lent and how we can shape our preaching to present these in a way that is appropriately challenging and also points us towards the hope of the resurrection.
This workshop will be led by the Revd Dr Victoria Johnson, Canon Precentor at York Minster.

Preaching the Easter Message

Workshop leader: John Woods
This workshop will explore ways of preaching the Easter message that meaningfully connect with our congregations, reignite their imaginations, and draw them in a fresh way to the crucified and risen one. It will reflect on how we can craft sermons that nourish regulars, but also intrigue those who overhear the good news.
This workshop will be led by Dr John Woods, Training Director of the School of Preachers Trust.

Preaching and the Crucifixion - Finding the Right Words
Thursday 16 March, 10.00 | Gladstone's Library, Hawarden, Wales, CH5 3DF
Workshop leader: Rod Garner
This half-day workshop will consider the death of Jesus through scripture, poetry, and the rich resources of theology. The aim throughout will be to bridge the gap between the fruits of scholarship and artistic imagination and the pastoral and devotional needs of local congregations.
This workshop will be led by Rod Garner, Anglican priest, writer and theologian.

This day focuses on how who we are and what we believe effects what we say and how we say it.
This workshop will be led by Liz Shercliff and Matt Allen. Liz Shercliff is Director of Studies in the Diocese of Chester. Matt Allen is the Blackburn Centre Lead Tutor at Emmanuel Theological College.
