Methodists for Ukraine – homes for refugees

The Methodist Church is pleased to announce a new scheme to mobilise the Methodist people to provide homes for refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine. Thousands are still hoping to come to the UK as the war continues, but hosts are in short supply. Methodists can live out their calling to be a good neighbour by generously offering hospitality to those in need.

We are hoping to recruit at least 50 hosts from across Britain, building a local support team around each host from their church and wider community. Hosts simply need to have space to offer, be willing to host for a minimum of six months, and undergo some basic checks, and we will find them a suitable guest(s) and train and support them to host well.

You can help us by encouraging your churches to consider if they could come forward as hosts. Please mention this in your notices and newsheets. The need remains great, and we will provide support along the way.

We are also asking ministers to provide us with a reference letter, confirming that the host and their accommodation are suitable for hosting a refugee – we will give you a list of what you need to check.

You can find more information at this link of the Methodist Church website, or by emailing Matt at ceaserm@methodistchurch.org.uk. Please also email Matt if you would like to receive posters or flyers for your churches.
