Ovarian and Prostate Cancer Awareness month

Prostrate Cancer

Prostrate Cancer awareness month  is marked in March which provides the opportunity to raise awareness and learn more about this disease. The prostate is a gland at the base of the bladder.  Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men and as it develops very slowly, there may not be any signs for many years.  Prostate cancer can also affect some  trans women and non-binary people who were born male at birth so it is important to know what it is and symptoms to look out for.

Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian Cancer Awareness  is also marked for the month of March and is a chance to learn more about this disease. Ovarian cancer can affect anyone who has ovaries and fallopian tubes which includes women, transgender (trans) men and people assigned female at birth. Whilst this  type of cancer mostly affects those over 50, this does not mean anyone younger may not be affected. Ovarian cancer is usually detected  at a later stage but early detection is more treatable. It is important therefore to get any symptoms checked as soon as possible.
