Trigger warning: survivors of racism
On Tuesday 19 November 2024 from 11am to 12:30pm, the Methodist Church’s Connexional Safeguarding Team will be offering a webinar on the subject of “Safeguarding and Racial Justice”. Please forward this information to anyone else who you think may be interested. All are welcome to attend. In case you are interested but unable to make this date and time, the webinar will be recorded and put up on our website after the event here where you will also find lots of other informative webinars on safeguarding related topics.
In this webinar, we will explore how we can offer an inclusive welcome to people of all ethnicities within the Methodist Church and quickly tackle any issues relating to racism, whether overt or covert. We will also hear about the history of the Church's involvement with colonialism and slavery. Speakers will also help us to learn more about our own unconscious biases and how we can challenge negative thoughts or comments in ourselves or others. By the end, we will consider how we can work together to make our church a safer and more welcoming place to people of all ethnicities.
