Walking with Micah “Justice Conversations"

A new phase of the Walking with Micah project has been launched on Tuesday 1 February. You will recall that the Walking with Micah is a two year exploration of what it means to be a justice-seeking Church.

The Walking with Micah “Justice Conversations” are an invitation to anyone involved in the life of Methodist churches and communities to have a conversation about what a just world looks like, and to feedback their answers to the project. The answers will help shape the Methodist Church’s work to tackle injustice.

Local Justice Conversations can take any shape or form, but it’s hoped that people will encounter three things:

  • Listening to experiences of injustice
  • Exploring where God is
  • Reflecting on what a just world looks like.

There are lots of tools available on the Walking with Micah website to support conversations – from worship resources, to guided conversations, to intergenerational ideas and craftivist sessions. If you have time, may I suggest that you watch this 12 minute film, Speaking from Experience, in which people with particular experiences of injustice describe what a just world looks like to them.

You can find out more about the Justice Conversations here

At the end of a Conversation, groups are encouraged to feedback their answers via an e-survey. Postcards are also available where people do not meet as a group. Feedback from this phase of the project will be looked along with resources from other phases to work towards the Conference report in 2023.

Methodist Comms will be focusing on justice and Walking with Micah during the month of February so we hope there will be some awareness.

If you’ve got any questions, or would like to explore how this project might engage with your own work, please do get in touch with Rachel Lampard. And please do share this information with anyone in your teams or networks.
