World Sleep Day 17th March

World Sleep Day is recognised every year and this year’s theme is, ‘Sleep is Essential for Health’ https://worldsleepday.org/

World Sleep Day was created with the aim of raising awareness of how important sleep is to our wellbeing. By having a yearly reminder this can provide the momentum for us to look at our sleeping habits and try to implement changes for improvement. The same way diet and exercise  are considered important, so is sleep. The lack of sleep can cause a number of problems which can affect your social, physical and mental wellbeing for example, being irritable, lacking focus, feeling lethargic, feeling down, hallucinations, these are just  a few issues that can occur.

Trying to implement good sleep hygiene is important so whilst many of us can acknowledge we need better sleep, for whatever reason, we are unable to make any changes. Trying to take small steps to improve can help no matter how small.
