Training Courses for District-Nominated Supervisors

Supervision training for new supervisors will continue to take place in a hybrid format - where the first three days of training will take place as a residential event and the additional days will take place online. This is to ensure that trainee supervisors are taught how to offer supervision in person and online.

Each training will involve:

  • a three day Initial Training Events (Days 1-3) in person as a residential event,
  • engaging with two online training modules,
  • practising supervising with someone in between the first three days and final two days,
  • having three supervision sessions with your own supervisor in between the first three days and the final two days,
  • a Day 4 with your triad and facilitator online via Zoom or another video platform,
  • and a further two day Call Back Event (Days 5 & 6) on Zoom.

The Initial Training Events are organised in learning groups of multiples of three up to a maximum of 15. Once your district has supplied your details as a nominated supervisor, you will be invited to sign up for both the three day Initial Training Events and its corresponding two day Call Back for further learning and assessment.

If you wish to be trained in as a supervisor, please first contact your District Chair to ask their permission and ensure they are content with your intentions. They will then update the District Supervision Implementation Plan to include your name on it and advise your supervisor and superintendent of your intentions. At the point of booking in you will be asked if you can provide evidence of their agreement.

It’s important to be aware that this is a six month long process - if you have a sabbatical in place or indeed a planned leave of absence during the time period between the Initial Training Events and Call Back, you may want to re-think the dates you are choosing as there is work that happens between those two events. Let us know if this is the case for you.

For completeness the role outline for a supervisor can be found here. Please do read it before you book onto the course.

To book into one of these trainings, please use the Eventbrite links below and then let the supervision team know you have done so and have permission from your chair using the supervision inbox supervision@methodistchurch.org.uk
