'Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Messiah, for the accuser of our comrades has been thrown down … they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.' (vs 10-11)

… give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that I need, or I shall be full, and deny you, and say, 'Who is the Lord?' or I shall be poor and steal and profane the name of my God. (vs 8-9)

A person’s pride will bring humiliation, but one who is lowly in spirit will obtain honour. (v. 23)

Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Well meant are the wounds a friend inflicts, but profuse are the kisses of an enemy. (vs 5-6)

He said to them, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' (v.31)

Like a maniac who shoots deadly firebrands and arrows, so is one who deceives a neighbour and says, 'I am only joking!' (v. 18)

Do you see persons wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for fools than for them. The lazy person says, 'There is a lion in the road! There is a lion in the streets!' (vs 12-13)

gold ring or an ornament of gold is a wise rebuke to a listening ear. (vs 11-12)

As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth; and he said to him, 'Follow me.' And he got up and followed him. (v. 9)

Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity, and the rod of anger will fail.Those who are generous are blessed, for they share their bread with the poor. (vs 8-9)
