Surely he has borne our infirmities and carried our diseases; yet we accounted him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the punishment that made us whole, and by his bruises we are healed. (vs 4-5)

"For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes." (v. 26)

One of his disciples – the one whom Jesus loved – was reclining next to him. (v. 23)

Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit." (vs 23-24)
