'As for me, Daniel, my spirit was troubled within me, and the visions of my head terrified me.' (v. 15)

In the first year of King Belshazzar of Babylon, Daniel had a dream and visions of his head as he lay in bed. (v. 1)

Although Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he continued to go to his house, which had windows in its upper room open toward Jerusalem, and to get down on his knees three times a day to pray to his God and praise him, just as he had done previously. (v. 10)

'I have heard of you that a spirit of the gods is in you, and that enlightenment, understanding, and excellent wisdom are found in you.' (v. 14)

'You, O king, the king of kings – to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the might, and the glory...' (v. 37)

But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the royal rations of food and wine. (v. 8)

'Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.' (v. 40)

"So have no fear; I myself will provide for you and your little ones.' In this way he reassured them, speaking kindly to them. (v. 21)

Then Jacob called his sons, and said: 'Gather around, that I may tell you what will happen to you in days to come.' (v. 1)
