"When Jesus saw Nathanael coming towards him, he said of him, 'Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!'" (v.47)
Background
How easy life would be if we were all able to see a person andbe able to say categorically 'in them there is nothingfalse'.
This story comes near the beginning of John's Gospel, and we arelearning about the man Jesus, who it turns out as the storyprogresses, is the Son of God. Indeed, even in this firstencounter, this is what Nathanael saw in Jesus.
Jesus sees in to the heart of each situation and person. We areknown personally. We can also be like Christ; in 1 Peter 4:1 wherewe are told to "arm ourselves with the same attitude [asChrist]".
So what is the attitude, or mind, that Christ has? The mind ofChrist is one which is "pure" (
To Ponder
Is it really possible for us to have the sameattitude as Christ?
If we did have the same attitude as Christ, howwould we treat issues of oppression and injustice differently?
