When? 2nd Sunday in September

The date of Education Sunday coincides with the start of the school year in September (England/Wales).

Education Sunday 2023 will be on 10 September. Churches have been supporting education through an annual act of prayer and worship for over 100 years. The materials are prepared by an ecumenical steering committee and based around the Revised Common Lectionary. This year's theme is inspired by the lectionary reading from Paul's letter to the Romans: The armour of light

Education Sunday materials are hosted by Churches Together in England. They include sermon notes and all-age worship suggestions.

You may want to consider using Richard Mainwaring’s hymn Do all the good you can (website only), written for the Transforming Lives Methodist Education International Conference in May this year, which coincided with the 275th anniversary of John Wesley’s model school, Kingswood School, in 1748. If singing the hymn is going to be difficult for you, is there a way in which you can share the wonderful video, featuring singers from Methodist schools worldwide?
