Ideas for use

This can be adapted as a prayer of adoration. Some or all of each verse may be spoken responsively, e.g.

Father, we love you,
we worship and adore you:
glorify your name
in all the earth.

Glorify your name,
glorify your name,
glorify your name,
in all the earth.

The three verses of this hymn also lend themselves to being interspersed with any prayer built around the persons of the Trinity – God the Creator, Son and Holy Spirit. One example is the opening prayer of the Methodist Covenant Service in The Methodist Worship Book, during which these verses can be used instead of the given spoken response, “Blessed be God for ever”.

Father, in whom we live (StF 5)
God, who made the stars of heaven (StF 7)
