The United Nations COP26 has convened in Glasgow.
In preparation for the gathering, the Methodist Church participated in a Climate Sunday initiative coordinated by the Churches Together in Britain and Ireland’s Environmental Issues Network. The Network is encouraging every church in the UK to hold a Climate Sunday service in the lead up to COP26.
A wide range of resources produced to help churches plan their local “climate services” are still available on the Climate Sunday page and continue to be helpful when planning climate/creation-related worship.
Climate Sunday on Singing the Faith Plus
Singing the Faith Plus offers its own existing range of resources under the heading Climate and Creation.
These now include videos, hymns and small-group materials produced as part of Bramhall Methodist Church’s Praying for our Planet series.
Science, faith and the climate and ecological emergency
Praying for our Planet, organised by Bramhall Methodist Church, offers a series of seven talks by scientists who are also Christians and whose work relates to the climate and ecological emergency. In each Zoom-presented session, a scientist speaks first about the science with which they are involved and then, more briefly, reflects on how this affects their faith and prayer life.
The series ran online, in the spring/summer of 2021 and are all viewable on YouTube.

Hymns for our planet
Andrew Pratt was invited to be Hymn Writer in Residence for the Bramhall 'Praying for our Planet' series and he responded to each lecture with a new text. They are all available here on Singing the Faith Plus, as well as, separately, on the Praying for Our Planet pages.
Small group discussion materials
Why and how should the Church respond to the climate emergency? is a series of six small-group discussion sessions written by the Revds Sarah Parkin and Richard Baker as Bramhall Methodist Church’s introduction to its 2021 Climate Year. Each session includes videos, questions and short Bible readings for group reflection.
Originally written for Lent 2021, the material can be used at any time of year and has been made available for anyone who would like to make use of it.
CJ4A (Climate Justice for All) worship resources
CJ4A is an alliance of young Methodists from around the world who have created a youth-led campaign for the global Methodist family to take action on the climate crisis. The campaign workers, from Britain, Uruguay, Fiji, Zambia and Italy, have been building a network of volunteers from eleven other countries to help them.
Videos and worship resources from each of the participating nations have been going on the World Methodist Council’s web pages in the months leading up to COP26, with a final video planned for the event itself.
