Many of our brothers and sisters in China are deeply affected by the outbreak of the coronavirus in Hubei province and beyond.

The President of the Methodist Church has written to the China Christian Council to express our concern and assure the people of China of our prayers. The Grants Committee has issued a  grant of £10,000 to express our solidarity and assist with the purchase of vital protective equipment.

You can read about the efforts of the Church in China here:

The letter from the President is here:

We Pray

 God of Love,

Wholeness and health are what you want for humankind;

We pray for those who are suffering disease and anxiety as a result of the epidemic in China,

                For those who are fearful for their health, their families or their livelihood.

Give energy to those who care tirelessly for the sick,

Give insight to those who are investigating causes and solutions.

God of Community,

Kindness and forbearance are your wish for our lives;

We pray for those who are unnerved and impatient,

                For those whose worry leads them to resentment.

Give us all the desire for greater care in the whole of our environment,

                Give us, above all else, your love.

We ask these things in the Name of the holy community,

Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
