On Tuesday 19 November 2024 the Methodist Church’s Connexional Safeguarding Team held a webinar on the subject of “Safeguarding and Racial Justice”.

In this webinar, we explored how we can offer an inclusive welcome to people of all ethnicities within the Methodist Church and quickly tackle any issues relating to racism, whether overt or covert. We also heard about the history of the Church's involvement with colonialism and slavery. Speakers helped us to learn more about our own unconscious biases and how we can challenge negative thoughts or comments in ourselves or others. By the end, we considered how we can work together to make our church a safer and more welcoming place to people of all ethnicities.
